Trend
In a Nutshell
A trend is a form, sound, or behavior that spreads in a given period. In theory: keeping a finger on the pulse. In practice: a crowd that becomes invisible once everyone does the same thing.
What It Really Means
Following a trend looks tempting because it promises ready-made attention. If a sound, a format, a joke is already getting interest, joining it seems like a shortcut.
But the nature of a trend is transience. Whether it adds value to a brand depends not on joining it, but on whether the brand can tie it to its own story.
A brand late to a trend looks ridiculous; one that uses it without understanding it looks fake. Both get attention, but for the wrong reason.
A trend is a tool, not a goal. A trend that carries the brand is good; one that loses the brand inside it is just noise.
