Performance
In a Nutshell
Performance refers to the results a campaign, content, or advertising work achieves against set goals. In theory: success measurement. In practice: creative work turned into a table.
What It Really Means
Performance is unavoidable in digital communication. Because now almost everything is measurable. Clicks, views, reach, conversion, cost, rate, and duration influence brand decisions.
But performance data doesn't always explain creative quality. Some work performs well but adds no long-term value to the brand. Some work doesn't produce big numbers short-term but strengthens perception.
Performance is important. But looking only at performance can turn communication into a machine.
As everything in advertising becomes measurable, the value of things that can't be measured is more easily forgotten.
